Dr. Mike Russell

Dr. Russell received all of his degrees from the University of Connecticut.  He has a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology (concentration: Sensation & Perception), a M.A. in Child & Developmental Psychology, and a B.A. in Psychology.

His research focuses on how we use sound to perceive the world around us and the events occurring near us.  Every day, we are frequently exposed to a wide range of objects that produce sound (e.g., cell phones, cars, people).  However, we know very little about how we know whether a sound-producing object is to the left or right, above or below us, or near or far.  In addition, Dr. Russell is interested in our ability to judge the movement of sound-producing objects (e.g., how well we can tell if someone is walking up or down a flight of stairs, how hard/soft two objects collided).

Dr. Russell is currently recruiting student researchers.  Please contact him for details: mirussell@bellevue.edu
